Blog – When not to foster.

Due to the national shortage of foster carers, many carers are often feeling pressured into taking on cases they are not equipped to manage.

This can include children with serious behavioural problems or disabilities. Without the adequate training or experience to manage these exceptional cases, the relationship can break down and further damage the child. It can also have on effect on the foster carer, with them losing faith in their agency and being put-off fostering.

As a foster carer, you should never feel pressured into a situation you are uncomfortable with. In the long term, it only has a negative impact upon the foster care network.
