Managing relationships with the birth parents Blog.
The overriding goal of foster care is to achieve a permanent resolution for each child. Most commonly a child will return to their birth family after a period spent in care. It is therefore important to maintain relationships with the birth family and to address the problems that lead to the placement.
However, working with the birth family can be challenging. It is important to work in close partnership with the social workers, who will have a more intimate knowledge of each families’ history and dynamics.
