Allegations of abuse.
Many children in care have experienced abuse or neglect at some point. This can have an impact on their thought processes and psychological well-being. These children will have extremely complex needs and may react in ways you would not expect.
Allegations of abuse are common. The most common allegations are of physical or sexual abuse. Whilst most allegations are completely unfounded they can still have a major impact on the foster-carers life and career. When an allegation of abuse is made it must be investigated to ensure the safety of the child. Children often believe that if they accuse their foster carers of abuse they will get to return home. Unfortunately, they often do not fully appreciate the consequences of their actions.
