Managing a full-time job and foster caring Blog.
Many potential carers are keen to make a positive impact upon a child’s life but might be unable to commit to it full-time. Some are even unaware that it is possible to be a foster carer and have a separate career. It can at times be challenging balancing foster care and a full-time job. However, it is perfectly achievable and rewarding.
Consider fostering children of school-age to allow you to work within the day. Likewise, consider becoming a short-term, respite carer. This can often be more flexible and offers foster carers more autonomy. Regardless of your circumstance it is important to allow some time at the beginning of a foster placement to attend support groups and to liaise with social workers.
