Until refugee status is granted, such a person remains an asylum seeker.

You would usually have to:

Fostering agencies are looking for foster carers who can provide a stable foster home.
Asylum seekers need lots of support and encouragement to help them feel safe and secure.
Youngsters do well when they are placed with a foster carer of the same language, religion and culture.
speak another language
speak English to a certain level have indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom have been resident in the United Kingdom for more than five years
Asylum seekers often return to their home country once the reasons that forced them to leave no longer exist.
They will remain the responsibility of the local authority until they reach 18 years of age.
There are foster carer placements required where children and young people can feel safe and begin to build a new life for themselves.
